How to Sign up for Reddit

 

This wikiHow teaches you how to create a new Reddit account. You can sign up for a new account on the Reddit web page in your desktop internet browser, or use the mobile app on iPhone, iPad or Android. A Reddit account will allow you to post, comment, message, join subreddits, and further interact with the community. You will only need an email, username, and password to sign up.

   Open the Reddit website in your internet browser. Type https://www.reddit.com into the address bar, and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.

   • If you're automatically logged into an account, click the user drop-down on the top right of the page, and select Log Out.

   Click the SIGN UP button on the top right. This is a blue button in the upper right corner of the page. It will open a new pop-up window.

   Enter your email address in the pop-up. Click the EMAIL field, and type or paste the email address you want to use with your account.

   Click NEXT in the pop-up. This is a blue button at the bottom. It will confirm your email address, and take you to the next page in the pop-up.

   Enter a username for your new Reddit account. Click the CHOOSE A USERNAME field in the pop-up, and enter the username you want to use on Reddit here.

   • This will be your display name under all your comments and posts.
   • You will sign in with your username later.

   Enter an account password in the "PASSWORD" field. Click this field under the username box, and type the password you want to use for your new Reddit account.

   • Your password security is shown by red-to-green indicators on the right-hand side. Green is for a secure password, yellow is for moderate security, and red is for low security.
   • Your password must be at least 6 characters long.

   Click the SIGN UP button on the bottom right. This is a blue button in the lower right corner of the pop-up window. It will create your new account.

   Click a category on the left menu (optional). You can explore various subreddits that might interest you, and even click JOIN to instantly join a public subreddit.

    Click the FINISH button. This is a blue button in the lower right corner. It will close the registration pop-up, and sign you in.

   Open the Reddit app on your iPhone, iPad or Android. The Reddit icon looks like a white alien face in an orange circle. You can find it on your home screen, in a folder, or on the Apps tray.

   Tap the figurehead icon on the top left. You will see a gray figurehead icon in the upper-left corner of your screen. It will open a new panel on the left-hand side.

   • If the Reddit app automatically opens up to the "Log In/Sign Up" welcome page, you can tap the Sign up option here, and automatically jump to the new account form.

   Tap Sign up/Log in on the menu panel. This should be the only menu item on the left-menu here.

   Tap the blue SIGN UP option. This will open the sign-up form on a new page.

   • On iPhone and iPad, this is a blue button at the bottom of the page.
   • On Android, the SIGN UP button is located below the "Password" field on the login form.

   Enter an email address, username, and password. You will only need to provide your email address, create a username, and enter the account password you want to use.

   • You will see a green checkmark next to each text box when it's complete.
   • You can tap the eye icon next to the "Password" field to see what you type.
   • Your password must be at least 6 characters long.

   Tap CREATE ACCOUNT at the bottom. This is a blue button at the bottom of the page. It will create your new Reddit account. You can now log in with your username and password on any platform.

   • On the next page, you can optionally select your interests, or tap SKIP on the top right corner to automatically log in.
